So, I am going to start you off with a few simple recommendations and those items that I mentioned below should form your basic face painting kit as you set off to any parties.

I have to mention this item first as this is what face painting is all about.  It is best to use water based paints like Snazaroo for all the reasons you can think of.  Personally, I think the ease of washing and cleaning up (both the faces and the painting tools) suffices to justify the selection of such paints over the cream based make-ups.

Sponges

Get yourself a few sponges for different colors. What I like to do is to buy the bigger sponges and creatively cut them into smaller sizes and shapes.  I use the bigger ones to apply the base color while the smaller ones for creative touch-ups on the faces.

Paint Brushes

You will need different brushes for different strokes.  So, select a minimum of 3 paint brushes for a variety of brushing effects.  Also, avoid the cheaper ones that fray easily. They are going to hurt your masterpiece.

A  Jar of Warm Water

I know, this is pretty much common sense, but let's make this article suggestion as complete as possible.  So, yes, please prepare a jar of warm water for cleansing and washing purposes.

Tissues and Baby Wipes

You won't forget the tissue packs, I'm sure, but some face painters do not use wet baby wipes.  I love it because they are just so convenient.  You can use a towel instead if you like.

Mirror

Alright this is not for you, not exactly.  But a pleasant smile on the faces of the kids you paint on will always bring you delight, and a good reminder of why you are doing what you are doing.  So do the kids and yourself a favor.  Bring and mirror and remember to use it!

The first requirement when manufacturing a cleaning style brush is to start with the brush block. This can vary in wood type, the most commonly used handles comes from maple. Once the wood type is selected it is then cut into planks with in a certain width requirement. Throughout this process workers mark down where the cracks or knots are in the wood and draw a red line across the flaw with a special wax crayon. A laser can read this line as the planks are moved forward, cutting the line with a saw. Shortly after the blocks are cut to the appropriate length, moving on to the shaping of the block known as molding.

Once the wood block is set in place for molding, a series of saws cut the block to the required thickness. A machine called the shaper follows this action. The brush handle is placed in the machine, revolving and slicing away the outside edge. This only cuts away half of the block. To keep in good profile the same actions are done to the opposite side. Each model uses a different shaper machine. The machines must stay sharp for the blocks to remain smooth and accurate. Carbide cutters are used in these machines rather than steel because carbide is much harder and more durable.

The word tarpaulin originated as a compound of the words tar and palling, referring to a tarred canvas pall used to cover objects on ships. By association, according to one theory, sailors became known as tarpaulins and eventually tars.

When used for a tarpaulin, the word hoochie (also hootchie, hootch, or hooch) comes from the Japanese uchi ( "house"). Huts in various parts of rural Asia are known by this or similar names, and during the Korean and Vietnam Wars English-speaking soldiers came to use the word to refer to their own makeshift shelters, which often consisted of little more than a tarpaulin.

In British English, the word is normally pronounced "TAR-paul-in". An American pronunciation would be "TAR-pole-in". A colloquial variation adds a vowel sound, resulting in the pronunciation, "tar-POLE-ee-in".[citation needed]

Card scrapers are available in a range of shapes and sizes, the most common being a rectangular shape of around postcard size. Another common configuration is the gooseneck scraper, which has a shape resembling a french curve and is useful for scraping curved surfaces. For scraping convex shapes such as violin fingerboards, small flexible rectangular scrapers are useful.

Scrapers are normally made from high carbon steel. There are many manufacturers who provide scrapers in a wide variety of styles. Many woodworkers prefer to make their own card scrapers by cutting them from old hand saw blades.

The cracking of the slab around the steel columns may be attributed to a combination of joint placement and plastic shrinkage. If the joints immediately surrounding the column do not allow for shrinkage, the column will act as an anchor. As the slab shrinks, it pulls away from the column, leaving the corner "torn off". While it was originally thought that cracking might have been caused by pile-driving and/or adjacent demolition work, the type of crack found (and shown in the photo) is indicative of plastic shrinkage.
